Today’s intention is:

To reveal.

Reveal your ignorance and find empathy.

Reveal your wounds and find compassion.

Reveal your art and find connection.

You can save the world

Too dramatic? Eh, maybe not.

Last week, I read Steven Pressfield’s The Artist’s Journey for the third time… this year.

A part near the end really caught my attention:

“The artist is a force for unity. Her role is to bring together, upon the common ground of the imagination, the disparate and often warring factions of the mortal psyche and the human race.”

We all experience warring factions of the human race from time to time - a world divided.

We feel political, social, economic, and racial tension drape over us like a weighted cloak.

Self-discovery lifts that cloak. You reveal your Self through your art… through your work.

As you gain understanding of your abilities, feelings, and character, those around you do too.

We see, hear, feel… love, You.

“Your clarity” prompts “Their clarity” becoming “Our Clarity”.

We come together upon the common ground of the imagination.

All our creations - the music, films, books, newsletters, side hustles, startups, content, and more seed this clarity.

It’s all art and we are all Artists.

If you’re tired of the world feeling divided, do your work.

Write, build, post, pod, sketch, strum, report, outline, or code your way through the muck.

Find your Self.

And We find unity.

Unity showed up on Saturday.

“Be big”

“Take up space”

“Let your voice be heard”

One after another nudge my friend during her birthday celebration.

The encouragement tugs at her vulnerability and confidence.

She blushes, strains a smile, and reluctantly acknowledges their instructions.

She knows they’re right.

The roar of a lion sits inside her. But she can barely manage a whisper.

What is she to do?

She does what we all must.

She begins.

She sets small, gentle goals... then meets them.

She surrounds herself with her encouraging friends.

She cares for her Self. She shows up. She does her work.

That roar will come soon enough.

And it will be more magnificent, more marvelous, more massive than she can imagine.

You have your roar too. We all do.

It’s time.

Let the lions out.

Remember,

Don’t wait. Start small. Learn as you go.
